Tsuyoshi Kodera is said to be stepping down from his role at the start of April, but will be remaining at Sony. The former CEO has played a crucial part in the implementation of the PlayStation online network, which include such services as the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Plus and the cloud gaming service PlayStation Now. Such key features for the console have been instrumental in driving Sony revenues up over the years with around 40 million paid subscriptions for PlayStation Plus alone as of May last year....

Earlier this month, PlayStation Network services spanning the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita were all put out of commission for almost 24 hours. Everything from online storefronts to social functionality and online play was affected, with widespread confusion as to what exactly caused the fault. Sony quickly pledged to extend any subscriptions affected by the outage, the same response that the company has made when similar situations have arisen in the past....

As it stands, PlayStation has mostly kept quiet about its 2023 offerings. 2022 saw the release of major PlayStation game releases, including the critically-acclaimed God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, but the company has yet to reveal its full slate of games for the new year. Even so, PlayStation has teased fans with some titles they can look forward to in the early months of 2023 as well as one title that’s coming a bit later....

Leading this initiative will be a new location-based entertainment department within Sony Interactive Entertainment. Besides arcades, Sony will reportedly be looking for other partners as well, though it will not be creating its own PlayStation VR entertainment center or arcade. It’s possible these plans could change if this endeavor proves fruitful, however.
