As indicated by the trailer below, the headlining titles for PlayStation Plus’ free games for December 2018 are Frictional Games’ SOMA and Codemasters’ Onrush–both of which will be available to download on PS4 at no additional cost to PS Plus members starting next month. For those unaware, SOMA is a story-driven FPS sci-fi survival-horror game, while Onrush is a gravity-defying racing game chock full of unlockable customization options.
The other supporting titles that will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers come December 2018 are Steredenn for PS3, Steinsgate for PS3, Iconoclasts for PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4), and Papers, Please for PS Vita. These releases along with SOMA and Onrush will all officially become available for download as free titles starting on December 4, 2018 and ending on January 1, 2019. Those who wish to get an idea of the general critical reception for each of the aforementioned games would do well to check out their current Metacritic rankings below:
SOMA - 79/100 Onrush - 76/100 Steredenn - TBD Steinsgate - 83/100 Iconoclasts - TBD Papers, Please - TBD
While December 2018’s lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers is respectable, the offerings for the final few weeks of this year are a far cry from the quality of titles from previous months. For instance, September 2018 gave PS Plus members the likes of both Destiny 2 and God of War 3, while November 2018’s lineup–which is still active, as of writing–provided Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and Yakuza Kiwami. At any rate, it’s safe to presume that lots of fans will still find a fair share of enjoyment from December 2018’s free games.
